Philips PF9831 series: ClearLCD and Aptura

January 8th, 2006

I’m in the market for buying a big LCD TV. Being from Einhoven, I ofcourse digg the Philips brand :)

Philips just announced last week at the CES 2006 the new Ambilight Full Surround, so it seems I just have to wait a big longer for my new TV, also because according to other sources, “Philips will release new PF9831-series LCD screens between May and July. These will have ClearLCD™ [featuring Aptura, JPD] for a far higher contrast ratio, Pixel Plus 3HD technology and full surround ambilight.“.

Other sources mention August as a launch date. So I probably won’t be able to watch the World Cup Soccer on HD TV this year :(

See this link for more pictures and see Clear LCD - What does this mean ? for an explanation of what I’m waiting for!

    Hi,

I’m also looking for a new TV, to replace my old Philips CRT Matchline with almost 10 years now. As a Philips fan I have been reading all information about new LCD’s from Philips waiting for features like Full HD compliance (full support for 1920×1080p@60Hz and 1920×1080p@24Hz video modes) and Pixel Plus 3. However the current model TV 42PF9830/10 fails to fully satisfy my requirements. Do you know when Philips will replace current model and what features are planned?

    Regards,
    Pedro
